Get back to me/us WHEN (aka: IF) Construction is even started and even then BELIEVE IT WHEN I SEE IT FINISHED. What is this PLAN # 195 since 2000? and the 937 plans and promises of the 2 decades prior that NEVER HAPPENED?!?!? But I sure HOPE SO that THIS TIME real action vs more empty hot-air blowing promises! But, certainly not gonna hold my breath.
Does @FreePress have anything coming on BELLE ISLE potential development I heard discussion started on WWJ or WJR (forget which). I really think that a mini-rise of some Condos (or Apartments) could be ACCEPTABLE (just ONE) as well as next to it a mini-rise HOTEL (just one, limited number of rooms), that would help bring Construction Jobs (obviously) and then Operations Jobs to/for both and let a SMALL NUMBER of folks Live on the Island (help bring addl. Tax Revenue to City THAT THEN NEED BE IN SPECIAL ZONING BILL that could authorize these to be LOCKED IN for actual other neighborhood developments (you know, those parts of Detroit still look like FAT BOY was dropped on those acres rather than Hiroshima). That could be a WIN/WIN all around and turn BELLE ISLE into a DESTINATION VACATION SPOT STOP (peeps can come in, hang out, relax, on Isle enjoy the Beauty/Nature, then CHECK OUT and GO HOME). Again NOT something I would hold my breath over, if Buildings become allowed will be full on SELL OUT of the Isle and Politicians again lining their Pockets (IMO, I contend, allege) and the Millionaires and Billionaires ONLY WIN again per usual (like all rest of Downtown developement, and most of Detroit STILL DEVOID of any real investment or activity. There is a LOT of great areas that SPECIAL ZONES can, could, should, be designated to get group come in and Build some SINGLE FAMILY HOMES again creating all new rejuvinated Communities (before Detroit went to HADES).
