#DOGE savings MUST BE codified into official Budgets and Spending Bills CUTTING 100's of Billions (at least 500B this first year) from Dept Budgets now and going forward (with at least another $500B in Cuts each of the next 3 years to get to BALANCE or preferred SURPLUS to STOP the Deficits and start paying down DEBT).*
You have, can afford, $10 Cash to go to McyD's for $2 menu items for Lunch for you and Spouse (or you and Kid, let's go with that)
but you let your Kid WHINE AND MOAN AND NAG you into going to another place that will cost $30 for the 2 of you.
BUT, you manage to negotiate DOWN to yet another place for $20.
YOU DID NOT SAVE $10
You spent MORE, not less, from the original $10 you actually had and could actually afford
Now, it gets even worse if then in order to COVER that EXTRA $10 MORE you're Spending you cannot afford YOU PUT THE ENTIRE $20 on your Credit Card rather than paying the $10 Cash and Charging the extra $10. NOW you have added $20 to your DEBT (and you'll likely then still spend that other $10 on something else and therefore be out $30) and that $20 turns into $21, $22, $25, as INTEREST COMPOUNDS on the Debt you're NOT PAYING DOWN.
It IS that SIMPLE to understand what is happening in DC.
