September is Suicide-Prevention Month....

Whether it be a Soldier with PTSD, someone with Terror attack Survivors Guilt, or general never-ending general Depression, HELP SAVE A LIFE!!!

"Blog within a Book" feature sub-section (something My Publisher and I, as far as we know, never seen, is a first/innovation as supplement to the standard "Book within a Book" (as we follow Marten who is writing a book on Terrorism himself) story-telling methodology - as I am a former IT guy and while Publishers do not like "different" or "innovative" I insisted must be part of the story-telling process as even if people don't read or write blogs regularly, they know what they are and are here to stay in our Internet age)...

They may not see or recognize the
VALUE AND IMPORTANCE THEIR LIFE HAS, but
it does have value and importance. Just because your
mind is trying to convince you it isn’t true does NOT
make it the case!! Just cuz you don’t see it daily or
hear it from folks daily, you ARE appreciated and may
be making a very positive impact on other people’s
lives that you just don’t recognize.
Let us use by way of example the movie almost
everyone has seen: It’s A Wonderful Life. In the
dramatic portrayal the main character is shown how
life would have been if he hadn’t lived. He was brought
to recall how had it not been for his intervention a
pharmacist would have caused the death of a patient
by administering a wrong drug. That, clearly, is a
dramatic impact. That, of course, was a movie! In
REAL LIFE the influence and impact that people
have on others’ lives may be infinitely more subtle! It
may even be INDIRECT! The influence and impact
that one person has on another may then influence
and/or impact another that may then have a major
impact on a human life as a whole! You can be
someone’s Clarence (a real life, in-the-flesh angel) to
help them recover and heal!
I hesitate to use another movie reference, but the
Butterfly Effect – an actual phenom –used very drastic
dramatic effects to make the Butterfly Effect point.
(The theory is that a small change can make a huge
difference like a butterfly flapping its wings can set
off a chain reaction of events that cause a tsunami on
the other side of the world.) Maybe your influence is
far more SUBTLE in REAL LIFE, the result can still
have a profound effect over time or when expounded
upon by additional influences/impacts projected
outward!
It’s like viral marketing: one person tells a few friends
who tell a few friends, until half the country is talking
about it. If you save a life. They save a life, then they
save another. Pretty soon there are a whole lotta lives
preserved. And, sorry to take this diversion, but it’s
like the Abortion debate. The Life saved may go on to
do great and important things in life. What if down
that train someone saved becomes the scientist that
cures cancer? Then, legitimately, you played a part in
saving all those lives too.
Again, every life has meaning and value, and the
influence and impact each person has may not be easily
recognized or easily measured. They are important
and have cumulative effects – DRAMATIC NONETHE-
LESS AND FACTUAL! Do NOT let the negative
thoughts ROB YOU OF THAT UNDERSTANDING
and the positive impacts you cumulatively have on
society! I don’t wish to over-dramatize, but at the
same time DO NOT UNDERPLAY the impact that
small thoughts shared with others may play. That is
simple words shared with another and then another
may lead to a dramatic impact for someone else,
that might SAVE PEOPLES LIVES (without going
into any speculative conjecture on what they may
do/accomplish in Life – that you indirectly played
an important role/part in – that would NOT occur
without you/them)!
It does not matter if the PAIN is physical, emotional,
or both, you must try to be as understanding as
possible and offer whatever help you can even if it is
to ADMIT you may not heal them, but that you will
be a sympathetic ear anytime they wish to have a chat
and more importantly that you’ll be willing to try and
help them find others to aid in the healing they need.
It is one thing to lose someone at a young age to a
slowly consuming disease. We can fight that, though
we may ultimately lose that battle, but at least we may
buy some time (even if brief moments) to help deal
with that inevitableness. However, the sudden loss of
someone without warning is something you likely are
NEVER be able to process and get over. Constantly
having to LIVE with the questions: Why didn’t we
notice? Is there anything we could have or should
have done? YOU are NOT doing those around you a
favor – just like those demons in your Head may be
trying to convince you!
