A brief break from Politics...

Reaves hit on Hronek...

First let me say I've said many times I wish Stevie Y would have signed Reaves to the Wings when he came available from the Knights. We need someone like him on our squad.

The Hit, by definition, WAS A PENALTY! Period! The principle point of contact was the Head. Period! That is a penalty any and every time, no matter who the players involved are.

I am all for HARD HITS (and yes, even FIGHTING) in Hockey. Remember KRONWALLED verb was created for Kronwall here in Detroit and all his years of great lining people up for a CLEAN HIT (and, yes, at times he crossed a line and was properly penalized, or challenged by some "enforcer" ). Hell, I loved when Kocur, Probert, and McCarty, clobbered people (both hits, and in Fights when called upon to respond to a questionable hit on one of ours)!

I was glad we had Dave Ott (after his years in Dallas) here for two years (that was awhile ago)! Good player, as well as capable enforcer. Stevie Y knows better, he had enforcers to protect him, sad he's forgotten those lessons, and better correct his clear lacking to address soon - or the Wings will NOT be a serious contender anytime soon (despite the Free Agent signings this year)!

A check where the principle point of contact IS THE HEAD must always be a penalty and why you must have a Reaves type on your team to respond!

And, yes, I played, Officiated, and Coached, the Sport!

Was a penalty then, no excuse for it to not be called now!

And everyone in MN knows damn well if the roles were reversed, they'd expect same.

Hell, I even got into a fight once - and I WAS A GOALTENDER (with an opposing team forward - long before the Goalie fight trend LOL)! I had enough, so rather than wait for someone else to step up I HANDLED THE BUSINESS that needed to be done if no-one else was going to do it. It didn't need to happen again - message sent (to my own and other teams)!

Remember, WE HAVE LONG MEMORIES here in Detroit.

Just ask Claude Lemieux (aka: Turtle) -- which spurred a decade of Fights between our two teams (and even Goaltenders Fights)! But it was always ON THE ICE never off, unlike the BS between Spartans attacking the Wolverine player AFTER THE GAME. Remember too, we are the home of MALICE AT THE PALACE and MELEE AT THE LCA (a tag/phrase I coined on Twitter and got trending immediately following the fight others then went on to use); we will bide our time!
